In
Physics, every quantity is defined by its magnitude (size) and its direction.
This
led to the categorization of all physical quantity into two; Scalars and
Vectors. But what actually determine what category a quantity falls into is not
its magnitude, but its direction.
SCALARS:
Scalars are quantities that have only magnitude or size but have no direction.
VECTORS:
Vectors are quantities that have both magnitude and direction.
In
life, what really defines you is not your size, even though that is good, but
what defines you is your sense of direction, your purposefulness. The scalar
wants everything, goes everywhere, does anything and everything, sign in for
everything. Always changing intentions.
The
scalars are always moving in a zigzag manner, they just make move but no
progress towards purpose, and even when they seem to be making progress, they
end up losing it. The Vectors are men and women who have been able to define
who they are and what they stand for. This definition helps them to choose
their friends, choose the course of study in school, choose the kind of
relationships they get into, where they go, and what they do. Speed and
velocity are examples of scalars and vectors quantities respectively.
While
speed is concerned about the distance covered, how fast that person is,
Velocity is more concerned about the direction being moved towards. It is not
just enough to be fast, being fast in the wrong direction is arriving in a
wrong destination faster.
Speed
without direction will burn out one's enthusiasm.
Dear
friend, you must make up your mind to be a Vector quantity, one with size and a
sense of direction in this month of August.
Don't
just live each day without a sense of direction. Time wasted can never be
recovered. Anything new you want to see in each day has to be put there by your
deliberate actions.
Who
are you?
Where
are you heading to you?
What
do you want achieve?
Be
deliberate and be a vector quantity.
